Beginning her Junior Riding career in 1978, Carole Wilson began riding and training with Margie Goldstein-Engle, who has broken world records, won 6 World Cups and 20 National Cups. She loved the experience so much that Carole continued to train with her and has had the privilege to absorb Margie’s riding knowledge .
Carole started winning National ribbons just three short years later with a 3rd place overall finish in the medium pony section at the AHSA Pony Finals in Nashville, TN.
She then went on to dominate the competition for ten years until December of 1987 when Carole declared Professional Status with United States Equestrian Federation.
“I spent two semesters attending college at Edison Community College and taught a little on the side. In the summer of 1988 I formally opened my barn & traded my text books for a Professional Career as a rider & trainer. Thus the beginning of Winstar Farm” – Carole Wilson.
That is only a small part of the story though. During the years from 1983 to 1987 she qualified and successfully competed in Junior Jumper Prix Des States Competition representing Zone 4 held at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show (you must be in top 4 of your Zone to qualify). During that same period Carole qualified and competed 2 horses for Junior Jumper Division at Washington International Horse Show (you must be ranked in top 35 in Country to be entered).
With so many achievements under her belt, Carole began to teach full time and her students and horses qualified for major shows such as the M&S League National Finals: in Bit-O-Straw, HITS Hunter, Children’s Hunter, Children’s Medal, & Children’s Jumper divisions, where they won numerous ribbons. During the late 1980’s to the early 200o’s she hosted many clinics at her Winstar Farm with top professionals such as Frank Chapot, Greg Best, , Chris Kappler, Sue Ashe, and Michael Dennehy.
Not only has Carole been a much sought after trainer but she is very active in the “Judging” world and has been on a number of Show Committees.

Carole is an excellent instructor for our daughter. She successfully shows, winning top ribbons and championships, and has gone to national competitions, also winning those ribbons! Carole not only trains the horse and rider, but she has also taught character and responsibility. We are so glad for Carole to have been such an integral part of our daughter’s life! She truly cares for both the rider and horse.
I have known Carole and her family-owned Winstar Farm for more than 25 years and have enjoyed innumerable lessons and clinics there over the years. Carole sold me and a dear friend our wonderful mare, What’s Up, and was instrumental in the development of our many horse show accomplishments, highlighted by a Zone 4 Adult Amateur Jumper Championship. Currently my aged equine companion, despite multiple medical issues, leads a happy and sound life at Winstar Farm due to Carole’s outstanding horsemanship and barn management skills, while I continue to benefit from her knowledge, instruction and friendship.
Cannot say enough good things about Carole Wilson and Winstar Farm. I have been priviledged to know Carole and her family for over 35 years and during that time, with Carole’s help, have been fortunate to succesfully show my jumpers to many championships. She has a tremendous knowledge of horses and riding technique and always gives 100% of that information. Carole rode and showed at the National level with Margie Goldstein Engle for many years, enabling her to arrange clinics for her students with many top trainers at her farm-Frank Chapot, Greg Best, Chris Kappler, Sue Ashe, Michael Dennehy, to name a few. She has a true love of horses, riding, and teaching and I am grateful for her expertise over the years and for years to come.
I have known Carole since we were small. Although I’ve moved across the country, and we do not connect as much, I can say with true conviction, that, as a leader, role-model, inspiration, and woman with integrity, you will never find another. She has always been that way. She will always be consistent and encouraging, no doubt about it! I have no doubt she is one of the best instructors of fine horsemanship in the United States.
